It’s been 16 days since I quit crystal meth and GHB/GBL. The toughest stretch was definitely days 5-7, but things started to ease up a little by day 8. This week, however, sleep has been a challenge. I’m not sure if this is a lingering withdrawal effect or a side effect from the antidepressants I was on, which I’ve since stopped taking. Thankfully, last night was much better. It’s not perfect, but the improvement was significant. Hopefully, this trend continues.
I came across a study that looked at sleep patterns in meth withdrawal among 90 people. The findings were encouraging, showing that sleep improves significantly after about four weeks of abstinence. So, I’m holding on to that hope.
Another issue I’ve been dealing with is tension headaches, likely caused by jaw clenching due to stress and anxiety. Applying a warm compress to my face has been helping to relax the muscles, and I’ve been exploring some exercises as well. I’m trying to avoid taking painkillers, though, because of my liver. My recent liver enzyme results came back alarmingly high. They were already slightly elevated before my drug use, but now they’re very high. It’s too soon to tell if this is drug-induced, so I’ll need to repeat the blood tests next week. If the levels come down, that’s a good sign. If not, well… we could have a problem.
It’s clear that the chemsex drugs have done some damage to my liver, but I’m working on giving it the care it deserves. The doctors are keeping a close eye on it, and I’m determined to make things right. My heart has given me multiple chances; now, it’s time to take care of my liver.
